About this task

This task disables a share of a filesystem or of a filesystem snapshot. When a share is disabled, users and groups cannot use it to access the filesystem or snapshot, and current users are disconnected.

  • The share is not deleted, and can be re-enabled.
  • When the share is disabled, users lose access to the data.

Users immediately lose access to a share when it becomes disabled.

Prerequisites

  • A share of a filesystem or of a filesystem snapshot

Instructions

  1. In the GUI, click the Datasets icon on the left toolbar, and select the Datasets tab.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • For a filesystem: Select the filesystem name, and click the Shares tab.
    • For a filesystem snapshot: Expand the filesystem tree, select the filesystem snapshot name, and click the Shares tab.
  3. Right-click the share, or open the action menu in the settings column of the share to be disabled, and select Disable Share.
  4. Approve the warning message.

    The share is disabled.
  5. To enable the share, repeat this procedure, and select Enable Share in the action menu.
