About this task
This task creates an SMB share of a filesystem or a filesystem snapshot.
The instructions below apply to:

Before you begin
The share is created with the settings described below. You can change the basic share settings during the creation of the share, and the advanced share settings during or after the creation of the share. See: Modifying share-level permissions.
Basic share settings

Instructions
- In the GUI, click the Datasets icon on the left toolbar, and select the Datasets tab.
- Do one of the following:
- For a filesystem: Select the filesystem name, and click the Shares tab.
- For a filesystem snapshot: Expand the filesystem tree, select the filesystem snapshot name, and click the Shares tab.
- Click the Create SMB Share button.
- Enter a unique share name and the internal path.
- Click Advanced to change the snapshot directory visibility or the offline caching mode.
- Click Create.
The share is displayed on the screen.

The following command is applicable to both filesystems and snapshots:
fs.share.create
- creates a share to a filesystem or a snapshot
