About this task

This task creates a filesystem export.

The instructions below apply to:

  • Filesystems
  • Filesystem snapshots

Prerequisites

  • A filesystem or a filesystem snapshot

Before you begin

The export is created with the settings described below. You can change the basic export settings during the creation of the export, and the advanced export settings after the creation of the export. See: Modifying the advanced export settings.
Note: The advanced setting Snapshot Directory Visible can be changed either during or after the export creation.

Basic export settings

Instructions

  1. In the GUI, click the Datasets icon on the left toolbar, and select the Datasets tab.

  2. Do one of the following:
    • For a filesystem: Select the filesystem name, and click the Exports tab.
    • For a filesystem snapshot: Expand the filesystem tree, select the filesystem snapshot name, and click the Exports tab.
  3. Click the Create Export button.
  4. Enter the Export Path and the Internal Path.
  5. Click Advanced to select an export path from which to copy permissions, or to change the snapshot directory visibility.
  6. Click Create.
    The export is displayed on the screen.
  7. To modify the Advanced export settings, see Modifying the advanced export settings.

The following command is applicable to both filesystems and snapshots:

  • fs.export.create - creates an export path to a filesystem or a snapshot
