About this task

This document describes the procedure to install InfiniMetrics on a plain Ubuntu server.

Minimum system requirements


  • 64bit Ubuntu 18.04 server
  • At least 8GB of RAM
  • At least 30GB of disk space
  • At least 2 CPUs or cores
  • Support for SSE 4.2. To verify that it is supported run the following command:

    grep -q sse4_2 /proc/cpuinfo && echo "SSE 4.2 supported" || echo "SSE 4.2 not supported"

If you are planning to monitor more than 4 systems please refer to InfiniMetrics Sizing Guide for additional guidelines.


  1. Install a 64bit Ubuntu 18.04 server.
  2. Install the required packages:

    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get install -y unzip curl tmux libpam-systemd
  3. Configure the server:

    sudo timedatectl set-timezone UTC
    echo 0 | sudo tee /proc/sys/vm/overcommit_memory
    echo 'never' | sudo tee /sys/kernel/mm/transparent_hugepage/enabled

Installation file download

  1. Browse the InfiniMetrics section in the repository
  2. Click on "Other versions and platforms".
  3. Copy the x64_OVF10_UPDATE_ZIP download link of the latest InfiniMetrics version.
  4. Download the installation file to your Ubuntu server using curl:

    curl -O <installation-file-url>

Installation steps

Extract the ZIP file and install all the required deb packages inside it:

unzip *
cd package-pool
sudo rm -rf libpam-systemd_237-3ubuntu10.33_amd64.deb
sudo DEBIAN_FRONTEND=noninteractive dpkg -i lib* linux-libc* binutils* font* gamin* nginx* ssl-cert* perl*
sudo DEBIAN_FRONTEND=noninteractive dpkg -i rrdtool* clickhouse* postgres* pgdg* gawk*
sudo DEBIAN_FRONTEND=noninteractive dpkg -i munin* monit* infinimetrics*

Upgrading the server

Download the new installation file using the same steps listed above, and then run the installation steps.
